The University of Wisconsin Hybrid Vehicle Team is composed of primarily undergraduate students at UW-Madison. The team receives a standard vehicles that are transformed into a hybrid vehicles. Many of the new team members have little to no prior knowledge of  automobiles or hybrid vehicles. Members on the team gain knowledge from Team Leaders and current members about hybrids, and basic components and concepts in a vehicle.
