Duties: As the team president, I am responsible for overseeing all of the projects and making sure that the sub teams are meeting their goals.

Projects you’re working on in 2017: I will be installing a high voltage battery into the Moovada and restore electric powertrain

Favorite Wisconsin Hybrid memory: Getting to steer the legendary Moolander when we brought it back to the shop from Quaker Steak & Lube.

Interests or fun/unique fact about me: I enjoy hiking, camping, skiing, and going on road trips with friends. I  want to turn my CR-V into a dune buggy when I have the time and money.

Technical Team Lead – Dmitrii Turygin

Duration on Wisconsin Hybrid: 2 years

Projects you’re working on in 2017: Chevy Volt battery mounting system, possibly active suspension, and providing guidance to other team members projects.

Favorite Wisconsin Hybrid memory: I would say our faculty advisor Glenn’s bonfires and late night work are my favorite things. I enjoy when a group of people come together and works to achieve a common goal.

Personal Interests: I am interested in design, analysis, simulation and research.

Team Administrator – Billy Walsh

Year in School: Senior (5th Year)

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Duration on Wisconsin Hybrid: 2 Years

Individual/Team Goals: To learn something new every time I’m in the shop, help other members learn and have fun, and make all of our cars functional and efficient.

Favorite Wisconsin Hybrid Project: I was project lead for the battery enclosure since we received the Mooventure. From planning, design, and now fabrication, that project has taught me a lot about the engineering process. I can’t wait to see it implemented in the car.

More about me: I enjoy soccer, skiing, coffee, craft beers, and traveling in my free time. I studied in Prague, Czech Republic for a semester. My favorite car is either a  Aston Martin DB9 or a 1957 BMW 507 roadster.

Kevin Abou-Zeid

Projects you’re working on in 2017: I plan to help with fabrication of the many additions to our car and offer help to the younger members projects.

Favorite Wisconsin Hybrid memory: Having all nighters to machine parts using the HAAS in our shop.

Interests or fun/unique fact about me: This last summer I studied abroad in China, so I traveled to many cities that included Shanghai, Hangzhou, Guilin, Yangshuo, Beijing/The Great Wall, Suzhou, Wuzhen, and Hong Kong.

Luke Wennen

Projects you’re working on in 2017: This year I plan to help design and implement the mounts for the Sapphire motor in the Mooventure.

Interests or fun/unique fact about me: I’m the team leader of an Ultimate Frisbee club team.

Interests or fun/unique fact about me: I am also a part of the UW-Running Club.

Projects you’re working on in 2017: 2017 will consist mostly of electrical work to get the Mooventure running. Including battery work, controls, and wiring of the car.

Favorite Wisconsin Hybrid memory: The annual bonfire at our faculty advisor Glenn’s house.

Mike Baddeloo

Year in School:  Junior

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Duration on Wisconsin Hybrid:  2 Years

Individual/Team Goals:  Looking to gain experience with creating and fabricating mechanical designs for automotive application.  Also actively learning more about hybrid technology.  Working to help the team accomplish its goals.  Also excited to work towards designing and implementing a new powertrain in the Mooventure this year.

Interests or fun/unique fact about me: I enjoy playing sports and going to concerts.  I’m finishing up a mechanical engineering co-op at Enerpac going into my junior year.

Connor Williams

Year in School: Freshman

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Duration on Wisconsin Hybrid: 1st Year

Projects you’re working on in 2017: I will assist the team in various machining and fabrication tasks. My main project for 2017 is to learn the software GeoMagic DesignX and convert our scanned data of our empty engine bay and our Sapphire electric motor into solid part files to be edited and configured in SolidWorks. This will assist the team in getting a sense of where everything will go and fit into our vehicle digitally, before we fabricate mounts and finalize designs.

Favorite Wisconsin Hybrid memory: My favorite moment on Hybrid so far was working with a few other members to center the “University of Wisconsin: Madison” crest on the hood of the Mooventure and stick it to the car. It made realize how fortunate I am to attend an outstanding university like UW Madison and contribute to a passionate team with interests similar to mine.

Interests or fun/unique fact about me: I love to read, but only about science and technology and other real stuff; I can’t stand fiction books.

Ann Marie Kozol

Year in School: Freshman

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Duration on Wisconsin Hybrid: 1st Year

Projects you’re working on in 2017: In 2017 I will be designing and fabricating a parking brake mechanism for the Mooventure.

Favorite Wisconsin Hybrid memory: Walking in the Homecoming Parade this fall with our vehicle.

Interests or fun/unique fact about me: I play the piano and the violin.

Kevin Kirk

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Projects you’re working on in 2017: I will be designing mounts for the battery components that will be placed above the motor in the engine bay.

Favorite Wisconsin Hybrid memory: My favorite memory so far was getting to tear the Mooventure’s old engine down. Seeing all of the components and how they all work together was fascinating.

Interests or fun/unique fact about me: I hope to enter the aerospace industry. I have grown very passionate about the direction it is heading.

William Carstens

Projects you’re working on in 2017: I am the project lead for implementing custom CV joints into the Mooventure.

Favorite Project for Wisconsin Hybrid:  Researching casting techniques has been very interesting to me.

Interests or fun/unique fact about me: In my spare time, I like to do small furniture projects.

Projects you’re working on in 2017: I will be designing and fabricating a mount for the motor in the Mooventure. I also will assist other team members with fabrication.

Favorite Wisconsin Hybrid memory: When the team deconstructed the Moolander.

Interests or fun/unique fact about me: I enjoy wrestling, video games, and the outdoors.

Controls/Electrical Team Leader -Roumen Guha

Major: Electrical Engineering

Projects you’re working on in 2017: Everything on the electrical/control side of the car to get the car rolling!

Interests or fun/unique fact about me: I and from Malaysia and my driver’s license has a picture of me from when I was 13 years old.

Alex Bare

Projects you’re working on in 2017: I will be helping with various controls initiatives that will help get the car rolling.

Favorite Wisconsin Hybrid memory: When we got the Moovada running after months of trying to fix the clutch sensor.

Interests or fun/unique fact about me: I enjoy spending my free time outdoors and am always ready to learn something new. I try to learn something new pretty much everywhere I go.

Michael Ciancimino

Major: Computer Engineering / Computer Science

Duration on Wisconsin Hybrid: 2 Years

Individual/Team Goals: Get the controllers for the EMoove CAN rewire operating and communicating. Also, I would like to finish the demo box.

Interests or fun/unique fact about me: I’ve taught tennis for years and play a variety of racket sports including tennis, racquetball, badminton and ping-pong. I am also on the Enlight team where we made a virtual reality game.

Tristan Steiner

Duration on Wisconsin Hybrid: 1 Year

Individual/Team Goals: I would like to develop my knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicle systems in order to pursue a career in the automotive or energy field. As I continue to be a member of the team, I would like to work on the Moovenger to help make the next part and future of Hybrid successful.

Interests or fun/unique fact about me: I have an identical twin brother who goes to the University of Minnesota.

Alliot Nagle

Year in School: Freshman

Major: Electrical Engineering

Duration on Wisconsin Hybrid: 1st Year

Projects you’re working on in 2017: I look forward to working on the wiring and helping with the implementation of batteries as the main source of power for our vehicle.

Interests or fun/unique fact about me: I initially came to UW- Madison as a music major. Music and electrical engineering are two things I am passionate about.
